Here are my overall pro’s and cons after two months of usage, studies and observations:
PROs:
1) Company maintains a good website giving technical information of their products. Rating 5/5
2) As per their website and product catalog, even if installation is done by the buyer, warranty is still valid. Rating 5/5
3) The service and maintenance costs appear to be cheaper than mega branded products. Rating 5/5
4) Template provided to drill holes in the wall for installation. Rating 5/5
5) Input and output hoses are colour coded and well marked in the RO unit for correct assembly. Rating 5/5
6) Able to contact the company’s sales and service teams through e-mails and phone (whatsapp). Rating 5/5
7) Responsive to my repeated complaints (through their service franchise partner). Rating 3/5
8) After my feedback on unresolved complaints, manufacturer has assured replacement of the two suspected faulty parts in a week’s time. Rating 4/5. (Based on this responsiveness, have revised overall rating)
CONs:
1) Power supply unit to be connected to the power point is large and bulky, occupying space on the switch board. Not a preferred appearance. It should have been packaged inside the RO unit and have only the plug for power supply point. Rating 2/5
2) There is a dead volume of 1.4 litres of water that cannot be drawn through the tap. The tap is located so high instead of being as close as possible to tank bottom. This water can only be drained through the bottom drain plug. Very bad design. Rating 1/5
3) So, once the tank is drained completely and you run the machine, you have to wait for 5 minutes and 16 seconds until the first drops of water start trickling through the tap. Unacceptable waiting time due to bad design of tap location. Rating 1/5
4) Advertised that user can adjust the TDS level and that is the major reason for me to buy this product. But practically it is difficult: Need to remove four screws and remove top cover to access the TDS adjusting screw. Next, depending on the height at which it is installed on the wall, you need a stool/chair to reach the TDS adjusting screw (Loosen / hold the check nut and turn the screw inside reduces the TDS and turning the screw outside increases the TDS. Then tighten the check nut). Rating 2/5
5) Definitely need low pressure indicator lighting so that we know it is time to change the pre filter instead of changing filter or a theoretically set time frequency as it entirely depends on each one’s ground water quality. (The earlier unit I had at half the price of this unit had such a feature)
6) Serious performance issues repeatedly raised to the manufacturer through emails who deputed their installation and service partner to attend to the issues:
6a) When the tank is filled fully and auto stopped and power supply is switched off, there was a continuous flow / dripping of water through the waste water pipe. After several hours (or overnight) the level in the tank reduced visibly. Measured this flow back quantity as 1 to 1.2 litres. It was a simple root cause identified and solution that I had been showing to the investigation technicians they were hesistant to act upon, probably waiting for instruction from their principals. Finally it is resolved.
6b). Under observation to check for fine black particles on the tank bottom (probably coming from the activated carbon filter or the alkaline-mineral supply canister) after the first cleaning. Depending on the height at which the RO unit is installed, you need to climb up or bend your neck and look closely at the bottom to identify this.
7) Since this is a black color product, it is very very difficult to identify the presence of black particles in the tank bottom.
Below are my other study data that may be useful:
1) Tank usable volume of water is 9.0 litres.
2) Tank dead volume (not usable through tap) is 1.4 litres
3) So total volume of water produced is 10.4 litres. (Advertised 12 litres may be the actual capacity of the tank)
4) Time taken from full empty until water is available at the tap is 5 min 16 secs (As per my settings)
5) Time taken from full empty until auto shut off fill is 30 minutes 36 seconds (As per my settings)
6) For each litre of water produced in the tank, 2.38 litres of waste water is generated (Could vary based on TDS settings and each user settings)
7) Raw water TDS=660 to 700. Output TDS set to 80 and is maintained without deterioration
